چکیده

Background: Neonatal jaundice is generally a benign condition seen during the postnatal period. The non-invasive methods including transcutaneous bilirubinometry have been developed for assessment of neonatal jaundice, bilirubin TcB) meters noninvasively estimate levels by measuring light transmission through skin neonates this value then to be plotted against chart in order look hyperbilirubinemia. Aim was determine efficacy as screening tool clinically significant Methods: Study cross sectional study conducted under pediatric department SMBT IMS and RC at tertiary care center after taking approval from ethical committee. Total 110 that appear suffering were considered consent respective parent/ guardian. TCB serum done. If lie phototherapy range, baby shifted NICU treatment given, once came within normal range treatment, again measured compare pre-and post-treatment levels. Results: Present showed male preponderance. 64 46 female. Majority 61% full term delivery 39% LSCS. Mean level 8.5±2.8. Statistical significance sever Conclusions: concluded hyperbilirubinemia commonly among males. Newborn delivered had between severity disease. Thus, can used test detecting neonates. As noninvasive cost effective it widely predictor

A Comparison between Transcutaneous Bilirubin (TcB) and Total Serum Bilirubin (TSB) Measurements in Term Neonates

Background: Transcutaneous bilirubinometry (TCB) is a simple method for estimating bilirubin levels in neonates. This method is noninvasive, quick, and painless. We aimed to compare serum and cutaneous bilirubin measurements in term neonates.Method: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 200 neonates with icter with birth weights of at least 2500 grams were studied. TCB was measured using a...

Transcutaneous bilirubin measurements and serum total bilirubin levels in indigenous African infants.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine whether transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements correlate with serum total bilirubin (STB) levels in indigenous, darkly pigmented African newborns with varying degrees of skin pigmentation, some of which had developed kernicterus. METHODS Jaundiced infants who were < or =2 weeks of age and admitted to Baptist Medical Center-Eku (Eku; ...

Comparison of Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement With Total Serum Bilirubin Levels in Preterm Neonates Receiving Phototherapy.

OBJECTIVE To compare transcutaneous bilirubin with total serum bilirubin in preterm neonates after initiation of phototherapy. METHODS Jaundice was assessed in 30 preterm neonates with transcutaneous bilirubin and total serum bilirubin before initiation of phototherapy and at 12 hr after initiation of phototherapy. A photo-occlusive patch was applied over the sternum. RESULTS Transcutaneous...

Discrepancies between transcutaneous and serum bilirubin measurements.

OBJECTIVE To characterize discrepancies between transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements and total serum bilirubin (TSB) levels among newborns receiving care at multiple nursery sites across the United States. METHODS Medical records were reviewed to obtain data on all TcB measurements collected during two 2-week periods on neonates admitted to participating newborn nurseries. Data on TSB ...
